Dr Michelle Hill from the Diamantina Institute has been awarded the Queensland Health and Medical Research Senior Researcher Excellence Runner-Up Award by the Australian Society for Medical Research.
Accepting the award at the National Medical Research Week dinner this month, Michelle was grateful for the honour bestowed on her by the Society.
‘It is such an honour to accept this award knowing the calibre of researchers nominated. This is also testament to the amazing research being undertaken in Queensland at present.’
Sponsored by the Queensland State Government through the Office of Health and Medical Research the awards recognise four categories of researchers; Postgraduate Student, Postdoctoral, Senior and Clinical.
Guest speaker at the dinner and ASMR medallist for 2010, Prof Susan Greenfield CBE, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Oxford, also acknowledged the excellence in Queensland research being highlighted throughout the evening.
The Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) is the peak professional society representing Australian health and medical research. In addition to direct members, ASMR represents an additional 18,000 people actively involved in health and medical research through 56 affiliated professional societies and Medical Colleges.
