Three University of Queensland Diamantina Institute researchers were recipients of awards at the prestigious 52nd Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA) annual meeting.
The event, held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday May 17, is the largest and most renowned rheumatology meeting in the country. UQDI researcher Tony Kenna and research nurses Linda Bradbury and Janelle McFarlane received awards for their respective work in the rheumatology field.
Tony cleaned up the field, receiving Best Basic Science Free Paper presentation, while Linda won the Best Free Paper by a Rheumatology Healthcare Professional and Janelle was awarded highly commended in the same category.
Approximately 200 peer-reviewed abstracts were submitted prior to the event, and only a handful selected for an oral presentation on the day. Presentations were then judged by a panel of national and international judges, with the best speeches awarded.
The conference, titled “Rheumatology, its many faces and friends” included key international and national speakers, including UQDI’s Professor Ranjeny Thomas and Professor Matt Brown, sharing their ground-breaking research discoveries and exploring the many different facets of rheumatology.
The meeting was held over four days and provided an opportunity for individuals to keep up date with advancements in the field and to network with rheumatology experts.
