Chris SlapeChris Slape’s Bio: Chris Slape is an expert in the use of mouse models to study human haematological diseases and haematopoietic stem cell phenotypes. In particular, he developed and characterised the first model of myelodysplasia, the NUP98-HOXD13 transgenic mouse. He completed his PhD studies at The University of Adelaide in 2003. He performed postdoctoral work at: the National Cancer Institute (Bethesda, USA); the Bone Marrow Research Laboratories (Royal Melbourne Hospital); and Monash University (Melbourne). Most recently, he established his research group at the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute, where he focuses on cell-intrinsic and extrinsic self-renewal mechanisms in normal and abnormal haematopoietic stem cells.
