UQDI researchers were recipients of impressive awards at The Australian Society for Medical Research Queensland Postgraduate Conference.
At the ASMR conference evening dinner on Friday the 3rd of June saw Diwakar Ram Pattabiraman and Kelly Brooks win an award each on the night.
Diwakar was announced as Runner Up for a Queensland Health and Medical Research Award for the presentation he delivered on his work titled “The Role of the Myb-p300 interaction in acute myeloid".
Kelly Brooks was also awarded runner up in the student oral category for her presentation titled “Targeting the defective decatenation checkpoint in melanoma”.
These are outstanding achievements for UQDI young researchers and we congratulate Diwakar and Kelly on their awards.
ASMR Medical Research Week is an important event for communication, promotion and recognition of postgraduate medical research students throughout Queensland for a number of years now.
The event is organised locally by postgraduate student members from various institutions and the aim of the conference is to provide students with the opportunity to present their research findings through oral or poster presentations, to participate in discussion on current topics in medical research, and network with other graduate students working in similar fields.
The conference also incorporates the Postgraduate Student category of the Queensland Health and Medical Research Awards. Three students who give oral presentations at the conference are selected by a judging panel to be award finalists, with the winner being announced at the ASMR Medical Research Week dinner. Oral presentations from 14 other short-listed students are judged and awarded at the conference.
