Guest speaker Professor Lucas Ferrari de Andrade from the Icahn School of Medicine, USA.

Lucas will be presenting Cancer immunotherapy with proteolytic cleavage inhibitors.

Lucas Ferrari de AndradeLucas Ferrari de Andrade’s Bio: Dr Ferrari de Andrade received his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Universidade Federal do Paraná, Brazil, in 2014. During this period, he also spent 12 months in the lab of Professor Mark J. Smyth, at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Australia, where he studied natural killer cells and cancer immunotherapy. Dr Ferrari de Andrade moved to the United States in 2014, to join the lab of Dr Kai W. Wucherpfennig as postdoctoral fellow. In this lab, at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, he developed monoclonal antibodies that stimulate antitumor immunity. Dr Ferrari de Andrade started his own laboratory in August 2019, to work in the development of new cancer immunotherapies. He joined the faculties of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and his lab focuses on monoclonal antibodies that inhibit the proteolytic cleavage of surface proteins.
